Close The Deal LLC runs this website. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
We collect what you type into our form and nothing else. There is no Google Analytics on this site, no advertising pixels, no session recording and no third party trackers of any kind. We do not sell your information and we never will.
What we collect
When you fill in the evaluation form
The form asks for your name, email address, phone number, your general location, roughly how many items you have, and a description of them. You can also attach photos of your items.
Along with that, our website records the IP address the submission came from. We keep it only to identify and block spam, which is the same reason almost every website records it.
All of it is stored in this website’s own database and emailed to us so we can reply to you.
Photos you send us
Photos you attach are stored with your enquiry. Photographs can carry hidden information such as the location where they were taken. We do not look at it and we do not use it, but it is worth knowing that it can travel with any photo you send anyone.
What we do not collect
We do not run analytics. We do not use advertising or social media pixels. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not track you across other websites. Browsing this site sets no tracking cookies at all.
Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry, to give you a sensible valuation, and to run the consignment relationship if you decide to go ahead. That is the whole list.
Who else sees it
Nobody buys it and nobody rents it. It is handled by the companies we use to run the business, and only so far as they need to:
- Our web host, which stores the website and its database.
- Our email provider, which carries the message telling us you got in touch.
We will also hand over information if the law requires it. If that ever happens we will tell you, unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
If you become a consignor
Consigning involves more information than an enquiry does, including your mailing address and, if you choose to be paid by bank transfer, your account details. How that information is handled is set out in the consignment agreement you sign, which is the document that governs it. In short: it is used to run your account and pay you, it is protected, it is not sold, and it is shared only with the payment providers needed to get you your money.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not turn into business are kept for up to two years, so we can pick up the thread if you come back to us, and then deleted.
Consignor records are kept for as long as the relationship lasts and afterwards for as long as our tax and legal obligations require.
You can ask us to delete your information sooner and we will, unless we are required to keep it.
Cookies
This site uses no tracking cookies and no advertising cookies. WordPress, which the site is built on, may set a small number of functional cookies if you log in as an administrator. Ordinary visitors are not logged in and are not given one.
Your rights
We are a Colorado business and we handle personal information in line with Colorado law, including the Colorado Privacy Act. Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it
- send you a copy of it
- stop using it
Email scott@closethedeal.us and ask. We will reply within 45 days, which is what Colorado law allows, and in practice far sooner. There is no charge and we will not make it difficult.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing for you to opt out of.
Children
This site is meant for adults and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over an encrypted connection. Access to enquiries and consignor records is limited to people who need it to do the work. No system is perfect, and we would rather say that plainly than promise otherwise.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will tell you directly rather than leave you to notice.
